Party, party, party at the ski opening celebrations
It all gets going just a few days after the lifts and slopes of the Obertauern ski region officially open: Obertauern becomes a party zone for the weekend. Many people have been waiting all year for this occasion - the grand ski opening celebrations! Every year, top-class musical acts take to the stage to join the visitors in enthusiastically celebrating the start of the ski season.

Affordable skiing on Tauern ski days
Almost as popular as the ski opening celebrations are the Tauern ski days. The difference is that skiing is the central element of these days. For one Saturday in both December and April, extra-cheap day-ski-passes are available. Great celebrations are held in the après ski locations on these days as well.

Christmas atmosphere at the Tauern Advent
In the "Tauern Advent", locals and ski holidaymakers meet up at the highest-altitude Christmas market in the Salzburg region. On the four weekends of Advent, festive singing takes place between the illuminated Christmas stands.You can enjoy punch, mulled wine and all kinds of local snacks, along with a colourful programme of events for the whole family.
The legendary Krampus Party which is held on St Nicholas Day, with the Ö3-Disco, is particularly popular. The parade, in which hundreds of Krampuses cross over the pass summit, really brings the mystic traditions to life.

Après ski
Obertauern provides unlimited opportunities for entertaining après ski experiences. Have you heard, for example, of the Mankei Alm?
