Your hosts: the Veit family
Staying at a family establishment
What would the Hotel & Zirbenspa Enzian be without the family atmosphere that our guests enjoy so much? Not the same, that's for sure! The indefatigable efforts of your hosts, the Veit family, have made the hotel what it is today: a four-star superior establishment in which skiiers and winter sports enthusiasts can simply feel good. And your hosts are on duty every day from early until late to make sure that this continues to be the case.

Introducing your hosts
Walter Veit
In 1983, Walter Veit took over management of the Hotel Enzian from the founders, the Kuhn family. Walter Veit himself comes from a family of entrepreneurs in Vienna, and it was in Obertauern that he discovered his passion for the hotel industry. His great-grandfather, Lorenz Veit, had owned a large inn in Vienna, as well as some wine-growing operations in the Weinviertel region.

Alongside his efforts as managing director of the Enzian, Walter Veit has also been busy in the area of tourism for many years. For 25 years he has been active in the Obertauern Tourism Association, and for 10 years he has been regional representative and vice president of the Salzburger Hotelier's Union (ÖHV). And up until 2018, he sat on the supervisory board of HOGAST, the leading Austrian association for the hotel and restaurant industry. From January 2022 he was voted for the president the ÖHV and is looking forward to a new chapter.
In his free time, Walter Veit enjoys listening to classical music and jogging in the forest, and he has a great appreciation for good food and Austrian wines.
Elisabeth Veit
Elisabeth Veit has been working in the family business since the winter of 2013. Walter Veit's eldest daughter has a great deal of travel behind her. After studying tourism at the Puch technical college in Salzburg, she amassed a wealth of experience abroad. She has worked on an Italian cruise ship, in the Swiss hotel business in Gstaad and St. Moritz, and in St. Tropez on the Côte d’Azur, among others.
At last, full to the brim with hard-earned knowledge, Elisabeth returned to her hometown of Obertauern. She still loves to travel to other countries. She also enjoys skiing and spends as much time as possible outside with her kids.
Future hosts Paul (born 2016) and his brother Philipp (born 2019) opare now the fourth generation to grow up in the Enzian in Obertauern!
Julien Lefebvre
Elisabeth's partner, Julien Lefebvre, has spent many exciting years in the hospitality industry. For example, he has worked as a cook in a French restaurant in China as well as in prestigious eateries such as St. Paul de Vence, with Michel Guerard and at the Palace Hotel in Gstaad.
The Enzian's very own chef grew up in Toulouse, a region well known for specialties such as fois gras and breast of duck. He brings just the right creative flavour to the culinary experience of our guests, along with his great knowledge and passion..
In his free time he seeks inner balance with yoga. In winter he enjoys cross-country skiing, while the summer sees him enjoying the ocean breezes in a sailing boat.
Michaela Veit
Michaela Veit might not seem to have anything to do with the hotel business. The younger daughter of Walter Veit has a degree in social paedagogy and training as an outdoor and adventure educator. She also has a tremendous wealth of knowledge of medicinal herbs and plants.

Thanks to her ski instructor qualifications, for some time now Michaela has been able to combine her passion for the sport with a fulfilling activity in her beloved mountains. By day, she occupies herself on the slopes giving ski instruction to both young and old. In the evenings, she will, on request, take care of the youngest guests.
In her own time, Michaela enjoys archery, climbing and working on her own tea collection. She spends as much time as possible in the great outdoors.
