Wine connoisseurs and wine-lovers will particularly enjoy a visit to the Hotel Enzian. This could have something to do with the fact that your host, Walter Veit, has a taste for fine wines himself. Indeed, his great-grandfather operated a wine-growing business in a wine area. This passion is apparent in Walter Veit's in-house wine cellar.

A look at the cellar full of fine wines
A visit to the Enzian's wine cellar reveals a remarkable array of choice wines. Careful selection, small quantities and close relationships with vintners and importers - these factors allow us to offer our guests first-class wines at fair prices. Another feature: many of these exclusive fine wines are no longer available in stores.
Walter Veit applies his extensive knowledge to the correct storage of Austrian and international wines, helped by a natural spring which flows right above the wine cellar, keeping the temperature perfect.
Wine tastings for connoisseurs
Naturally, we don't keep these fantastic wines in our cellar just for show. They are also there to be consumed. Grüner Veltliner, Riesling or Zweigelt? If you would like to try a little of each, then a guided wine-tasting is just the thing.
The Enzian team can organise tastings for five to 25 people on request. Your host, Walter Veit, or bar manager and sommelier Günther Telser will be delighted to accompany you on a voyage of discovery into the world of fine wines.
The Veit winery: Grüner Veltliner & other top wines
If you pay close attention as you wander through the wine cellar, you will see a small plaque on a cupboard bearing the inscription Veit. This cupboard contains wines from the Veit winery in Lower Austria. These days, these wares are supplied by Walter Veit's cousin, Günter. The contents of the cupboard: affordable wines of excellent quality.
Fine wines from the hotel's own wine cellar can also be enjoyed at the Enzian hotel bar, in the restaurant or the smoking lounge. How? Simply book your winter holiday with wine appreciation in Obertauern!
